Outdoor teak wood furniture

When fresh, teak is known for its rich golden colour, which can be seen in nearly all of the images given by furniture sellers. However, keep in mind that this is just the colour of new teak wood.

This luscious honey-like tone is imparted by the naturally occurring oil contained in mature teak heartwood. The colour can fade over time due to evaporation of the oil and oxidation on the wood's surface. After a few months of exposure to the elements, the wood may begin to fade and develop a silver patina.

It's important to remember that the wood's interior is still coated in protective oil that protects it from water and pests. If you don't mind your Patio furniture online stores fading to a silver colour after a few years, there's no need to cover the wood with additional weather protection. You may, however, want to clean it on a regular basis to avoid any uneven greying caused by fungus growth on the exterior.

However, if you're like most people, you adore the golden honey colour of new teak wood. If you fall into this category, you can take steps to rejuvenate, improve, and preserve the appearance of your teak furniture over time.
